FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of S Lafayette and E Paulding Road.
The crash, involving a van and an SUV, happened just before 10:45 Saturday night.
According to police, a woman driving an SUV was traveling the wrong way northbound on S Lafayette Street. The woman crashed into a van occupied by two women.
Three women were taken to the hospital from the scene. FWPD officials say that the driver of the van sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and the driver of the SUV also sustained life-threatening injuries.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a multi-vehicle accident, involving a van and an SUV, which occurred at 10:43PM on October 8th, 2022, near the intersection of S Lafayette St & E Paulding Rd. Preliminary information indicates the driver of the SUV was traveling Northbound on S Lafayette St., the wrong way when the female, adult driver crashed head-on into a van occupied by two adult, females, pinning the driver of the SUV and passenger of the van. Roadway conditions were dry at the time of the accident.
Fort Wayne Police and Fire arrived on scene, located the vehicles and began rendering aid to the three females. TRAA medics later arrived and transported the three females to a local hospital. The driver of the van sustained non life-threatening injuries, while the passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and the driver of the SUV also sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team made the scene and closed all traffic between E Paulding Rd and Hanna St, while processing the scene
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
