FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – In celebration of Arbor Day 2023, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation in partnership with Trees Indiana will offer over 100 seedlings to the public (one per household) via a simple phone registration.
Black Cherry tree seedlings will be offered on a first come first served basis. Those who want a free tree seedling should call 260-427-6000 during normal business hours now through April 27 to reserve a seedling.
The bare root seedlings must be picked up on Friday, April 28, from noon to 1:00 p.m. at McCormick Park, 2300 Raymond Street (near the old Harvester Plant).
Trees are an asset to communities when planted properly and maintained. They help improve visual appeal of a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.
