INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana Republican Party leaders say they are not expecting to change the selection process for lieutenant governor.
Delegates select the candidate and typically follow the nominee for the governor’s preference. Republican Party secretary Mary Martin says where she lives in Angola, people don’t even discuss the process and it is a moot issue.
The Journal Gazette is reporting that it became an issue when conservative pastor Micah Beckwith made a direct appeal to the roughly 1,800 GOP delegates to be the lieutenant governor nominee next year.
