FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police have arrested 59-year-old Jon Raney of Fort Wayne after a brief standoff.
Raney was accused of a domestic dispute in which he allegedly hit a woman Tuesday morning in the Holly Ridge Subdivision off Lima Road.
The woman declined medical treatment. Raney surrendered to police shortly before 11 a.m.
Indiana State Police released the following:
This (Thursday) morning at approximately 9:30 am, troopers from the Fort Wayne Post, along with officers from the Allen County and Fort Wayne Police Departments, responded to a residence in the 11000 block of Fox Valley Run for a reported domestic dispute with an alleged battery.
The domestic argument was between a male/female adult couple. The battered female victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, the alleged batterer, Jon Douglas Raney, 59, of Fort Wayne, refused to cooperate with officers and would not exit his house nor answer his phones. This led to an increased officer response in the neighborhood from all three agencies, with a subsequent officer perimeter around the house.
At 10:47am, after a few calls over a loud speaker by FWPD, Raney voluntarily exited his residence and surrendered to officers. Raney was taken into custody without the use of force or further incident. He was placed under arrest by the State Police and then transported to the Allen County jail, where he was booked into custody on a single charge of Domestic Battery, a Class A Misdemeanor.
There is no further information to release.
The Indiana State Police were assisted by the Allen County Police Department and Fort Wayne Police Department.
All suspects named in this release are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Criminal charges listed are preliminary in nature, with the Allen County Prosecutor have final discretion on charges to be filed.
