FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – On Thursday, April 9th, Lutheran Health Network celebrates the 25th anniversary of Dupont Hospital.
The hospital was one of the first in Fort Wayne. At the time, only 131 beds were at the facility. Now, the hospital treats around 258,000 people each year, and since opening, officials say that Dupont has welcomed nearly 3,000 babies.
The following was released:
Known for its quality care, innovative women’s services and digital technology, Dupont Hospital provides a full complement of services to more than 258,000 patients annually in Northern Allen County and surrounding communities. Its Birthplace has played a special part in delivering over 2900 babies to families in our community in 2025.
Designed from the ground up for patient comfort and convenience, Dupont Hospital was the first hospital to open in Northern Allen County. The 131-bed facility has undergone several expansions, so more services are able to be offered close to home. The hospital now has 15 operating rooms, a 10-bed ICU and a 24-hour Emergency Department – including a dedicated OB Emergency Department. Dupont Hospital recently added a cardiac catheterization lab, providing more extensive onsite diagnostic and interventional cardiology services.
The hospital’s 2025 Community Benefit Report shows care extended well beyond the hospital and clinics, contributing more than $151 million to the region through charity/uncompensated care provided, capital dollars reinvested in services and facilities, employee payroll, charitable projects and payment of more than $17 million in taxes supporting local schools and civic resources.
“As we celebrate 25 years of serving this community, I am struck by the fact that a hospital is so much more than a building or a suite of technologies. It is a living, breathing testament to the people who work within these walls,” said Brent Parsons, chief executive officer of Dupont Hospital.
“This isn’t just a milestone of time, it is a milestone of collective heart. Every life touched and every recovery witnessed over the last two and half decades was made possible by the tireless efforts of our team. You are the hands that heal and the voices that comfort, and you are the true legacy of the past 25 years.”
Dupont Hospital was the first facility in the nation to achieve five or more Center of Excellence accreditations from the Surgical Review Corporation, an internationally recognized patient safety organization. Dupont Hospital was also among the first 10 hospitals in Indiana certified as a Perinatal Center by the Indiana State Department of Health, and is also a Level III Obstetric Care Center and a Level III Neonatal Care Center.
