For the next few days, Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin calls for dry weather over the next 10 days across the Hoosier state.
“Now we are going to be starting with a little bit of cold air that kind of sends a few ripples through the forecast to start. This colder air coming straight down across the Great Lakes for the weekend, especially Saturday. And what that’s doing is cold air coming across, warm water picking up some cloud cover. And I won’t rule out some spits and sprinkles, especially in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday. Even after a frosty start during the day, it’s going to take a little bit for these clouds to circulate out of the Hoosier state. So slower drying, probably to kick things off this weekend, but not an overall long term problem. There will be a fairly significant frost across the Hoosier State Sunday morning, before partly sunny skies and warmer air take over.”
According to Martin, it’s sunshine, blue skies, and warmer temperatures most of next week.
Now the later part of the week, we do have some cold air diving back across the Great Lakes region, and if that solution holds, we’ll see a set up very similar to what we’re dealing with here in the early part of this weekend. Cool air coming across warm water, more clouds around for Thursday night and Friday, and maybe some lake effect spits and sprinkles in northern parts of the Hoosier State. All that does, again, is slow drying a little bit. No significant precipitation to kick us out of the fields, but it is a new wrinkle for late week here in the Hoosier state.
He’s saying we could see sunny, dry and warm weather for the following weekend too.
“I think we go all the way through the first half of next week. I’m pushing our next frontal boundary arrival back until closer to the 19th, so we’ve got plenty of wide open opportunities to finish harvest in the Hoosier state.”
