COLUMBUS, Ohio (ADAMS) – The Ohio Senate is approving the use of commercial-grade fireworks in the state on certain holidays throughout the year.
On Wednesday, the Senate passed a bill making commercial-grade fireworks legal to set off on the Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Juneteenth, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.
The bill also gives local jurisdictions power to restrict the dates and times when fireworks can be used and enhances sprinkler-system requirements in stores that sell fireworks.
Last July, Governor DeWine vetoed a similar bill saying it was not in the best interest of Ohioans.
