
UPDATE (April 4, 2022):
It was another sad goodbye for a fallen Marine from Fort Wayne.
Hundreds of people turned out yesterday to pay their respects to Captain Matthew Tomkiewicz. There was a procession through town.
Tomkiewicz died while serving in Norway. Governor Holcomb ordered flags across the state to fly at half staff yesterday to honor Tomkiewicz. After the procession, there was a private celebration of life for friends and family members.

UPDATE (April 1, 2022):
While a viewing and service for family, friends, and loved ones of Captain Matthew Tomkiewicz will be held at Parkview Field – a procession will be held both Saturday and Sunday for the public.
The fallen marine’s procession will begin at 122nd on Saturday and conclude Sunday at Parkview Field.
On Saturday, the FWPD says that those wanting to be part of the procession should line up along Bluffton Road.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
April 2: Arrival at the 122nd Fighter Wing base by Fort Wayne International Airport, 3801 Ferguson Road, at approximately 1 p.m. Public should line up for the procession along Bluffton Road and then Broadway and ending at McComb and Sons Tribute Center, 2307 W. Main St.
April 3: Funeral procession starts at around noon from McComb and Sons Tribute Center, 2307 W. Main St., then goes, eastward to Ewing Street, then southward to Parkview Field, 1301 Ewing St.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Funeral arrangements for Captain Matthew Tomkiewicz have been announced. The Fort Wayne Marine was killed during a training operation in Norway.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 3 at Parkview Field from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with official services beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Only “family, friends, and loved ones” are invited to be a part of the service. A procession (a route has not yet been announced) will be the best way for the public to show support and condolences.
The following was issued on Wednesday:
The Viewing and Memorial Service of Capt. Matthew J. Tomkiewicz, for family, friends and loved ones, will take place this coming Sunday, April 3.
The viewing will be from 1:30 until 4:15 p.m. with the memorial service following at 4:30 p.m.
The viewing will be located on the Parkview Field concourse. Family, friends and loved ones may use the South Gate of the ballpark to enter, located at the corner of Ewing and Brackenridge Streets.
The memorial service will take place from the field.
The gates to Parkview Field will open at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
