Sunny, Warm, and Dry…three words that describe Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin’s latest Harvest Weather Forecast brought to you by Beacon Credit Union.
Martin says there is nothing to stop combines from rolling across the region.
“Our wide-open harvest window continues through the next of several days. We are sunny, warm, and dry. Well above normal temperatures, fast drying, low humidity, high evaporation…that’s the story from Friday right on through the weekend and through Monday of next week. Four days back-to-back-to-back where we can see significant harvest progress again across the region.”
According to Martin, a frontal battery in from the northwest should bring significant rains on Tuesday.
“I’m now looking at 100% coverage across the Hoosier state of rains anywhere from a tenth to three quarters of an inch. I think this will be enough to make a pause for the Tuesday time frame itself. Everybody gets the moisture. But I don’t think it’s going to be overly heavy and as dry as our soil profiles are, I think this moisture gets accepted pretty dog-gone quick. We are stating to clear out fairly quickly by the time we get to Wednesday morning and midday.”
He’s looking at another “disturbance” coming through on October 13th but fairly dry until then.
“Dry weather then dominates for the rest of next week, Wednesday afternoon through Thursday/Friday…and at this point I’m going to give you most of Saturday and Sunday. Now the weekend is going to be interesting. Just off to the west and northwest next weekend we can see a little bit of moisture trying to come together. I don’t think it gets into the Hoosier state until we get closer to the 13th.”
