Purdue Ag Week continues at Purdue University College of Agriculture, bringing together students, faculty, and industry leaders to celebrate the future of agriculture. One of the week’s highlights is the annual Ag Expo, where dozens of companies set up shop to connect directly with students preparing to enter the workforce.
From seed and crop protection firms to equipment manufacturers and ag finance organizations, the Expo gives students a chance to explore career paths, ask questions, and build relationships that can lead to internships and full-time jobs.
Logan Romines, Syngenta Representative says, “It gets people that maybe don’t know what Syngenta does, potentially interested in a career at Syngenta, whether that’s an internship or coming into the company. We’ve had some engineering folks we’ve talked to, we’ve talked some aerospace engineering folks. There’s lots of just diverse skill sets. That we know long term can help Syngenta. So just really an educational piece, helping people understand a lot of the different avenues that you can come into the company.”
For industry partners, it’s an opportunity to meet the next generation of talent and showcase the innovations shaping modern agriculture. Not only does it bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, but it also helps ensure students understand the wide range of opportunities available in today’s ag sector.
Bane-Welker Representative, Daylen Fruits says, “The industry is so broad, but a lot of times I speak at, different events where (people ask) what are the career opportunities? Well, we have parts, we have sales, we have diesel technicians, but we also have H.R and marketing and other kind of business administrative roles that you may not think about when you think of the ag industry. So it gives a great opportunity to have those conversations and hopefully broaden some horizons on what’s available out there.”
With agriculture continuing to evolve through technology and global demand, events like the Ag Expo play a key role in preparing students to step confidently into the industry and keep it moving forward.
