Bane-Welker is offering a technician apprentice program designed to help young professionals launch careers as diesel mechanics working on agricultural equipment.
The program puts apprentices right in the shop, learning side-by-side with experienced mentor technicians. Participants gain hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing equipment while building real-world mechanical skills from day one.
According to Bane-Welker HR Generalist, Daylen Fruits, “It seems like there’s a lot of individuals that don’t feel college as being their pathway after high school. And so we looked at that as not necessarily a bad thing. They’ve been in a school setting for many years, and they’re ready to be hands on and in the real world. And that can be a real positive thing. So we looked at an opportunity to cater more to that type of situation where a student is going through high school and they realize college isn’t their pathway or trade school isn’t their pathway, and apprenticeship provides them a hands on – on the job learning opportunity.”
Best of all, the training comes at no cost to the apprentice. In addition, participants earn competitive wages and receive benefits including insurance, retirement options, uniforms, and even a starter tool set.
“There’s a lot of ways that we can involve them early to peak their interest and continue to fill the pipeline and agriculture to have those professionals for years to come.”
Fruits says it’s not just an investment in the apprentices, but in the future workforce of the ag industry.
For those looking to turn mechanical skills into a career, this program could be a pathway worth exploring. Find more information at bane-welker.com
