Same Planting Challenges this Week as Last Week
That’s according to Hoosier Ag Today Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin’s latest Beacon Credit Union Planting Weather Forecast.
Martin says we are seeing a FEW improvements…
“Nearby here as we move through this weekend, we are seeing some moisture streak through the Hoosier State. I think we’re going to be picking up anywhere, well combined from your Friday through Saturday, probably a quarter to three quarters of an inch, but lesser chances on Sunday. And they are limited to southern Indiana. So I think we are going to be seeing moisture, but not over the top rainfall totals, especially in most key areas that need yet to plant.”
He says to prepare for two rounds of rain for next week
“We’ve got showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday night, Wednesday, and then another front on Friday. Combined I think those moisture totals have a chance at a half to one and half inches both together, so it’s definitely going to be a soggy week. Only about two days of drying in between each event and the next one to follow.”
And we can expect warmer weather but first…frost
“Warmer air is going to be trying to take over the region next week. After a frosty start coming out of Mother’s Day into Monday morning, we can see some frost conditions over the northern part of the state, but temperatures are going to be climbing through the rest of next week and we do not see another major cold air out break happening at all. Even with the active precipitation pattern that develops for this upcoming week.”
