ADAMS CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – At a time when blood supplies are at critical lows, an event in Adams County gives you another chance to help.
This week, Adams County first responders aim to ensure blood products are available for those in need of transfusions.

To support this effort, Fire and Law Enforcement agencies are coming together to hold their first-ever Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. The two-day event will take place on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28, at Monroe Lighthouse Church in Monroe, Indiana.

The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage as the blood supply fell nearly 25% in June. Blood donors are urgently needed to give now to help ensure patients receive lifesaving medical care without delay. The shortage is especially serious for types O positive and B negative blood.
For only the second time in history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis — and patients may already be feeling the impact. Donors are asked to act immediately to help save lives.
Blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, worsening this season’s emergency blood shortage. All blood types are needed, but the situation is especially dire for type O blood.
The supply of type O positive blood has now dropped below a one-day supply.
