FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – City Utilities says a sewer separation project will move forward next week along Fairfield Avenue to address chronic flooding in the Fairfield-Terrace Belmont neighborhood.

Beginning Monday, August 3, Fairfield Avenue will close between Pettit Avenue and Paulding Road through mid-September while crews install a new 36-inch stormwater pipe and inlets.
Northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured to South Calhoun Street using Pettit Avenue and Paulding Road. Access will be available only for residents living within the closed area.
To help reopen Fairfield Avenue as soon as possible, City Utilities and Public Works are coordinating the work so roadway restoration can begin as sections of the stormwater installation are completed.
The improvements are part of City Utilities’ five-year stormwater plan to address neighborhood drainage issues in 50 areas across the community.
