Leaders from across Indiana will gather Wednesday, September 2 for the second annual Indiana Hunger Summit. The statewide convening focuses on building partnerships and advancing solutions to address food insecurity across the Hoosier state.
Following the success of the inaugural summit in 2025, this year’s event expands participation opportunities through a statewide format that connects attendees at three hubs in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Evansville. The approach ensures every corner of the state can participate in the conversation, share local perspectives, and shape solutions that strengthen the food system for all Hoosiers.
Nearly one million Hoosiers experience food insecurity, a challenge that affectshe Indiana Hunger Summit was established to bring together leaders across sectors to better understand these impacts and identify opportunities for collective action.
“The Indiana Hunger Summit was founded on the belief that no single organization or sector can solve hunger alone,” said Heidi Spahn, founder of the Indiana Hunger Summit. “When leaders from agriculture, business, healthcare, education, faith communities, government and nonprofits come together, we create opportunities to learn from each other, build partnerships, and turn ideas into meaningful action. Expanding participation this year invites even more Hoosiers to be part of that work.”
The summit begins by examining the broader costs of hunger and why food insecurity affects all Hoosiers. Throughout the day, participants will discuss local challenges and opportunities, build action plans, and explore the intersections of food access and outcomes.. A Showcase Fair highlights promising programs and partnerships and a pitch competition surfaces new ideas to accelerate community-driven solutions.
The Indiana Hunger Summit is made possible through the support of leaders representing agriculture, food systems, healthcare, education, philanthropy, business, and community organizations dedicated to building a more food-secure Indiana.
