FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Blue Jacket’s 10th Annual Second Chances Art Exhibit brought together more than 400 people last Thursday evening and raised more than $83,000 through its unique fundraiser to support the nonprofit’s mission of providing training and employment opportunities to individuals facing barriers to gainful employment.
The September 10th event, held at the Blue Jacket Gallery, paired 16 Blue Jacket Academy graduates with 16 local artists.
The following was released:
Each artist created original artwork inspired by their graduate’s journey, providing a unique way to share stories of perseverance, growth and second chances.
Guests enjoyed an evening of art, food and fellowship, with the original artwork available through a silent auction – by the end of the event, 42 out of 43 pieces of work had sold.
“We are so grateful to so many people, especially the clients who share their stories, but also the artists and guests,” said Tony Hudson, CEO of Blue Jacket. “The room was electric and it helps us remind our community of what is possible when the opportunity Blue Jacket provides is used to benefit one’s career and life trajectory.”
Proceeds from the event supports the Blue Jacket Academy which is the organization’s high-demand 2-week soft skill program.
“We are incredibly thankful for the community that continues to show up for our graduates and believe in the great work of Blue Jacket,” said Amy Shepherd, Chief Development Officer. “This event is always special, but this 10th year made this one especially meaningful.”
The event attendees were proud families, friends, and 28 event sponsors. Blue Jacket leaders shared a vision to make an incredible impact for their long term operational and financial sustainability and specifically the intention to make an incredible impact on the Calhoun Street corridor.
