INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The state of Indiana will be receiving $ 175 million from the federal government to upgrade what’s called a “choke point” between two regional electric grid operators.
U.S. Department of Energy General Counsel Jonathan Brightbill says the challenge is “making the grid so that it can move power where it is needed quickly, affordably, and reliably.”
He says the seam where the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s service territory meets PJM Interconnection in Indiana is very important.
The work will unlock between 2,000 and 4,000 megawatts of transfer capacity for the interconnection in Indiana.
