AUBURN, Ind. (ADAMS) –
A new office is open in Auburn for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana (BBBS). A celebration was held last week.
The following was released:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana (BBBS) held a grand opening for its new office in downtown Auburn, with opening remarks by Auburn Mayor Dave Clark.
The official grand opening took place on Thursday, June 4, with a ribbon-cutting and office dedication, beginning with remarks from the BBBS team, local match Big Brother Dave Burris and Little Brother Cru, and Auburn Mayor Dave Clark. A reception followed on the adjoining patio, catered by the next-door Carve Market and Five Star Distributing.
The office—located at 202 North Main Street, Auburn, IN—will serve as a convenient space to host interviews, matchups, and activities for matches in DeKalb County and surrounding areas. The office will be staffed during standard work hours, Monday through Friday. Community members interested in the mission may stop by anytime to learn more about getting involved with BBBS youth programs.
This office opening celebrates the next step towards providing more youth with supportive mentorships in DeKalb County. In line with the nonprofit’s annual recruitment campaign and the new office opening, CEO Josette Rider announced the agency’s goal to recruit 200 volunteers in the area for the School Buddies program.
In this simple program, a volunteer mentor (Big) meets with a child (Little) weekly at their school during the school year for a lunch hour used to hang out, play games, or help with schoolwork. In DeKalb County, BBBS currently operates in DeKalb County Central United Schools, Garrett-Keyser-Butler Schools, and DeKalb Eastern Community Schools.
“We are thrilled to open our office in Downtown Auburn and strengthen our commitment to local youth and families,” said Anne Casteen, Director of Development at Big Brothers Big Sisters. “This expansion reflects our dedication to ensuring every young person in the DeKalb-Noble-Steuben area has access to the life-changing support of a caring mentor. Having a physical presence in the community will enable us to recruit more volunteers, build stronger partnerships, and create more one-to-one mentoring relationships that help young people realize their full potential.”
Further building the agency’s presence and support in the area, the nonprofit announced a new event dedicated to raising funds for the area’s youth, with details to be shared later this year.

This event celebrates the next step towards providing more youth with simple but effective mentorships in every northeastern county—all working towards the vision of igniting the power and promise that exists within each child.
